The practice was commenced in 1967 by Peter Simmonds who had previously spent many years working in commerce and industry as an accountant/company secretary and Director. A partnership was formed in 1981 when Arthur Ball, also with an extensive background in commerce and industry, joined the practice.

In July 1999 the partnership became a company known as Simmonds & Ball Ltd, in 2007 Ross assumed ownership of the company and in September 2011 rebranded the company to Simmonds Ball Engert Ltd. While the name has changed over the past decades, the reputation for quality advice and professional service has remained a constant.
